Spirit Weapons

This is a quick breakdown on common spirit weapons that people use. Note that some weapons didn’t become egoable until G15, so those won’t make the list here.

Remember to dye your weapon before you ego it.

With the advent of Battle Sword egos, there’s really no reason to make a Gladius ego anymore, seeing how they are mostly identical except Battle Sword egos straight up have more damage than an equal Gladius.

Bastard sword ego is king of max damage. It has middling balance and lower critical rate. If you want pure damage, this is for you. It grows a bit slow early on, but starts to gain damage rapidly from 19 to 25 strength, then it slows till you hit 30 strength (seeing a pattern yet?). As with the gladius, the other stats contribute damage around level 26 to 30, but mostly after level 40.

Hooked Cutlasses make excellent egos, having around 12 less max damage than a Bastard Sword ego, but much higher crit rate. It helps a lot with critting with skills other than windmill. This is my recommendation for an easy to use sword ego.

Ironically enough, broadsword egos have the lowest damage and durability compared to the other two swords above. I’ve never seen anyone with a broadsword ego, nor do I recommend making one.

Dagger ego if you want a portable waste disposal, I guess…

Despite being identical to Daggers, Viseo’s Bronze Mirror Blades are actually superior egos compared to them. The damage is still low, however.

Machete egos are monstrous 1h egos, usually wielded by melee elves. Proffing one to 100 without breaking it is no easy task, and also suffers from very low durability after becoming an ego. However, its damage is second to none under the 1h weapon class, with an absurd damage growth curve and boasting a damage range comparable to 2h swords.

It’s recommended to use a machete with 4 or 5 base durability for an ego attempt as they can tolerate one failed repair without becoming too damaged for the ego process. Yes, the 4 durability machete will work even if you break one point because its’ true durability is actually 3.5  (due to rounding shenanigans it’ll still work even with one point broken off).

2-handed swords:

Two-handed sword ego has more damage but less critical and durability compared to the Claymore, although the durability on two handed swords all tend to be extremely high in the first place. Two-handers really pick up steam from 20-25 strength, and again from 30-40 strength. The other stats also contribute damage when they hit level 25.

Claymore ego has less damage but more critical and durability compared to the Two-handed sword. The balance on both swords are extremely high, making it a non-issue for comparison. In my opinion, it comes down to personal preference. Claymores really pick up damage growth after 10 strength all the way to 25 strength, then it slows down. They also have a burst of damage growth when the other stats go past 25, so don’t neglect those stats.

Dragon Blade egos end up with stats between the Two-handed sword and Claymore egos. They are rather uncommon nowadays, with most of them made back in the early days of the server when an event was spitting them out. The stat growth pattern tends to follow the above swords as well.

Highlander Claymore/Dragon Fang/Glory Sword:

All three swords have similar stats as an ego weapon, with Dragon Fang taking the lead with around 10 more max but for all practical purposes all three are identical. Due to the very high durability of these swords repairing them with ego repair potions can get really pricey. Their stats as Spirit Weapons are best in class, however.

1-handed blunts:

Iron Mace (giant only): The ultimate 1h ego, this weapon boasts an earth-shattering 240 max once you completely max out all of its stats (201 max at all level 40). For giants, there is no reason to ego a regular mace or a warhammer. Iron Mace has a spread out stat growth, meaning you need to level all of its stats to gain all of its potential damage. At middle to high levels, feeding gems is advisable.

Mace/Warhammer: Warhammer ego starts with deceptively low stats in comparison to Mace, it has slow growth but at max level can outdamage the Mace, but it’ll take a long time to get to that point. Warhammers suffer from periods of slow growth followed by bursts of large damage gains.

Wooden Sticks are the joke weapon of the 1h blunt egos. Can’t be dual wielded either, there’s not much practical reason to make one.

Broad Stick egos actually outdamage Iron Maces in the long run, but the inability to be dual wielded also ruins its practical uses. However, it serves as a budget ego for melee elves and packs a real punch, having 216 max damage when capped.

Axes:

Franciscas are also very nice 1h egos, boasting considerable damage for a 1h weapon with high crit to boot. Axe Mastery augments the crit even more, allowing you to land crit smashes reliably.

Wands:

The only ego wand I recommend is ego fire wand. Raising it to 21 Social will get the +4 chaincasting without the 20% mana usage penalty compared to an upgraded fire wand.

Healing wand egos are a thing for people that really enjoy healing. Raising the Social level will boost the healing effect and mana reduction on the wand, although I’d say that there’s no noticeable difference until around level 22.

Bows:

Leather Long Bow is a common ego with very nice stats along with an effective range of 2500, good for long range sniping, and very easy to repair as well.

Ring Bow egos are for raw max damage, it has lower (but still decent) crit along with a normal weapon speed, meaning lower stun but faster firing rate, it lets you shoot hard but fast. Effective range as an ego is 2400, able to fire rapid shots from a distance if you choose to. In terms of average damage, it beats the Wing Bow although speed and playstyle should factor into your preferred ego.

Wing Bow egos are a bit lacking in power compared to other bow egos, but it comes with a monster range of 2600 plus the fast weapon speed that the bow is known for, allowing for sniping as well as crazy AR or elf ranged spam, overwhelming the enemy with sheer quantity. It also keeps the insane critical rate inherent to all Wing Bows. This is one of those weapons where all the other stats boost damage besides strength, meaning that feeding gems for leveling all stats is ideal. Note that AR in this generation is the unbuffed version which is weaker.

Highlander Long Bows make excellent egos if you don’t want to special upgrade one and are willing to feed an ego. Boasting very high damage and critical rate, you can’t go wrong whether you upgrade or ego this bow. This bow also has a monstrous effective range of 2600 as an ego weapon.

Arbalest egos have decent damage and extremely high critical and balance. They suffer from poor range, but Arbalest egos actually boast the highest average damage over time when you are up close and spamming shots on high-protection targets, although getting the required stats to handle such a weapon effectively will be a challenge. Effective range is 1800.
